  7. NATIONAL AGREEMENT ON SALARIES

To receive and consider communications from NALC/SLCC with regard to the National Agreement on salaries and Conditions of Service. Parts 1 and 2 are attached herewith, a copy of Part 3 - Guide to Good Employment Practice in Local Councils - will be available at the meeting. Although the new pay scales are meant to be implemented from 1 April, 2005 further information is awaited from NALC and County Associations as the details are not too clear to implement.

In accordance with s.1 of the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 to resolve that in view of the confidential nature of the business to be discussed it is in the opinion of the committee advisable in the public interest that the public and press be temporarily excluded and they be instructed to withdraw.

"That the Finance and General Purposes Committee identify and examine the pressure on staff time arising from various sources and make recommendation to Council"
