Members are reminded that they are required to declare any personal or prejudicial interests they know they might have in items of business on the agenda. They are reminded that they will need to repeat their declarations at the appropriate point in the meeting and leave the room if the interest is a prejudicial one.   3. MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

To receive and sign the minutes of the Environment Committee meeting held on 10th February, 2009.

ALLOTMENTS

Allotment Inspection
To receive a report from Mrs. Good regarding an allotment inspection.
 4.2 Brickhouse Farm Allotment Site- Additional Plots

Further to the Town Council meeting held on 16th March, 2009, to receive and consider a letter from MHHS regarding trees located within the proposed allotment extension site and consider the way forward.
 4.3 Maldon Hall Allotment Site

a.  Plot 46a

To receive and consider a letter from the tenant of Plot 46b.

   b.  Plot 17c

To receive and consider a request to install a shed on plot 17c
 4.4 Warwick Crescent Allotment Site

a.  Plot 10a

A letter has been received from the tenant of the above plot confirming that she was a town resident and would be continuing to cultivate her plot.
   b.  Rear Ditch

To date, Moat Housing has informed the Town Council that it is still investigating the request regarding the ditch and payment of the site lease.
 4.5 Waiting Lists

At the request of the Town Mayor, a survey of local Parishes has been undertaken to ascertain if the adjacent Parishes had allotments sites within their Parishes, and if so, if they would consider allowing residents of the town to be allocated any vacant plots.
The following responses have been received:
  
Woodham Walter No vacancies
Woodham Mortimer No allotments
Purleigh 11 plots - No vacancies - 10 residents on the waiting list
Mundon No allotments
Langford and Ulting No allotments - Residents all have large gardens and allotment plots would not be utilised.
Great Totham No response
North Fambridge No allotments
Heybridge No allotment plots - investigations are ongoing to obtain a site for the parish.

To receive and consider the financial statement of the Environment Committee at 23rd March, 2009.

MALDON IN BLOOM

To receive and consider the Notes of the Maldon in Bloom Working Party Meeting held on 25th March 2009

 6.2 To receive a report on the Maldon in Bloom project, including a review of expenditure (copy herewith).
  7. REVIEW OF THE GROUNDS MAINTENANCE CONTRACT AND FLORAL DECORATIONS CONTRACT

Further to minute 86.1 of the Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting, to begin a review of these contracts
(report herewith).
  8. FOOTPATH, BEELEIGH ROAD

Further to minute 56 of the Environment Committee meeting held on 10th February, 2009, members are informed that the Franciscan Sisters do not wish to relinquish the parking spaces alongside the convent boundary wall in Beeleigh Road as these spaces are often used by people on convent business.
  9. UNSAFE TREE

Notification has been received from the Tree Officer, Maldon District Council regarding an unsafe Willow tree in the rear garden of 8 Spital Road. Remedial work to make the tree safe has been undertaken. The tree will be retained but the size reduced.
 10. BUS SHELTERS

An application form has now been received from Essex County Council to apply for grant funding to install a new bus shelter at Milton Road, Maldon. Funding is available to a maximum of 6,000. The type of shelter to be used is specified by Essex County Council, and details will be available at the meeting. This has the support of the Poets Estate Residents Association.
