PRESENTATION BY THE FRIENDS OF MALDON ARTS CENTRE

To receive a presentation by Jansen Van Doli of the Friends of Maldon Arts Centre on the proposal to obtain the Old Post Office to turn it into an Arts Centre.
 11.2 To approve the request for the free use of the Town Hall on Monday 1st June to hold a public meeting on the proposal in order to demonstrate local support

 13.2 Actions arising from the meeting will be considered by the relevant Committees as follows-

Finance & General Purposes Committee - Cromwell Pump

Planning Committee - Protecting public open spaces which are proposed for development; planning permission to extend the Tesco's store, Fullbridge, and its effect on the businesses in the High Street; taking into consideration cyclists needs when looking at planning applications;

Council's representatives on the Blackwater Estuary Siltation Working group - The problem of silting in the river limiting access to Maldon for visiting yachtsmen.

 15. MAYOR'S ALLOWANCE

Pursuant to Section 15(c) of the Local Government Act 1972 and further to Minute 108.2 of the Town Council Meeting held on 1st December, 2008 to note that the Mayor's allowance has been set at 3,500.00 for the 2009/2010 mayoral year.
 16. APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO SERVE UPON COMMITTEES

All Committee meetings are held at 7.30pm at the Town Hall
 16.1 Finance and General Purposes Committee
This committee shall comprise of:

Maldon in Bloom (Usually mornings - 11.00 a.m.)
To appoint members to serve on the Maldon in Bloom Working Party. It would be preferable if these members also served on the Environment Committee as Maldon in Bloom is part of this committee's remit. 2008-09 members - Cllrs. Almond, Savage, Shrimpton and Stilts
 17.2 Moot Hall Working Party

To appoint members to serve on the Moot Hall Working Party.

 17.3 Quality Status Working Party

To appoint five members to serve upon the Quality Status Working Party.

To appoint four members to serve upon the Remembrance Sunday Working Party.

2008-09 representatives - Cllrs. Almond and Shrimpton who have been unable to attend as the meetings are held on Monday evenings and clash with Town Council or Committee meetings.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, 15th June, 2009.
 18.8 Maldon District Chamber of Commerce 1 representative - evening meetings

2008-09 representative - Cllr. Hawkins (Although Cllrs Savage and Wilsdon were also nominated, the Chamber would accept only one representative)
 18.9 Maldon District Museum Association - 1 representative - evening meetings

 18.10 Maldon District Crime Reduction Panel -1 representative - afternoon meetings

 18.11 Maldon Twinning Association - 2 representatives - evening meetings

The Town Mayor and Deputy Mayor are President and Vice President of the Association. There is an official visit to Cuijk to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Twinning from Thursday 10th September to Monday 14th September 2009 which they will be invited to attend. The Twinning AGM will be held on Wednesday 20th May, 2009 in the Town Hall.
 18.12 Neighbourhood Action Panel (NAPS) - 2 representatives
All members are welcome to attend these meetings.

Cllrs Savage, Shrimpton & Wilsdon attended the meeting held on 3 December 2008.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 9th June 2009.
