Members are reminded that they are required to declare any personal or prejudicial interests they know they might have in items of business on the agenda. They are reminded that they will need to repeat their declarations at the appropriate point in the meeting and leave the room if the interest is a prejudicial one. || MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING
To receive and sign the minutes of the Environment Committee meeting held on 22nd April, 2008.

|| FINANCIAL REPORT
To consider a financial report for the Environment Committee.
To consider a verbal report from Mrs. Good regarding a recent allotment inspection.
|| Uncultivated Plots
Due to the poor condition of plots, letters were sent to the tenants stating that, unless work to improve the condition of the plots was undertaken before the 31st May, their tenancy would be terminated immediately.
Plot 45b, Maldon Hall
To receive and consider a letter from the tenant regarding the plot and to consider whether further action should be taken.

Plot 31, Maldon Hall - To receive a verbal update at the meeting.
|| Rent Increase
To consider whether there should be an increase in the rent as tenants require 12 months notice of an increase in their allotment rent for the 2009/2010 period. The current charge is 14.5 pence per square meter which includes the provision of water on all the sites. Pensioners receive a discount of 50% of the charge. Should members approve an increase, notification of the increase will be forwarded to tenants with the invoice for the 2008/2009 rent.
|| Brickhouse Farm Allotment Site
Members are informed that a letter (copy herewith) has been sent to the District Council requesting clarification on the following:
a. the area of land to be offered as additional allotments at the Brickhouse Farm allotment site
b. the length of the proposed lease period.

To receive information regarding Health and Safety matter on allotment sites.

|| MALDON IN BLOOM
To receive the notes of the Maldon in Bloom Working Party meeting held on 21st May, 2008.

|| POETS ESTATE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION AGM
To receive reports from Cllrs. Denyer and Stilts regarding their attendance at the Poets Estate Residents Association AGM held on 24th April, 2008.
|| LEECH MEMORIAL GARDEN
Further to minute 54 of the Environment Committee meeting held on 10th March, 2008 where the report of a meeting held with the Friends of Leech Memorial Garden was noted. To consider the sum to be granted to the Friends Group for the purchase of Spring bulbs and shrubs for the garden.
|| MARKET HILL GARDEN
To note that the Town Clerk had requested the Maldon District Council to provide a job specification to replace the crazy paving path, and had indicated that the Town Council would be willing to pay a reasonable charge for the work, but to date no response has been received.
|| ST. MARY'S CHURCHYARD
To receive a verbal report regarding overhanging trees adjacent to the Churchyard.
