  6. CO-OPTION

No request for an election was made therefore the vacancy on the South Ward of the Council will be filled by co-option. Notices regarding the co-option have been displayed on Town Council notice boards, on the web-site and in the Maldon and Burnham Standard. Applicants have been requested to submit their details for consideration at the Town Council meeting to be held on 8th September, 2008. Members are requested to decide how they will consider the applications.

PLANNING MATTERS

Dual-Hatted Members
Further to minute 31.1 of the Town Council meeting held on 23rd June, 2008 to receive and consider the response of the Solicitor, Maldon District Council regarding duel-hatted members.

 7.2 Appointment of members to the Planning Committee

To consider the appointment of three members to serve on the Planning Committee for the remainder of the municipal year. If these vacancies are not filled, members are requested to consider the future of the Planning Committee.

QUALITY STATUS SCHEME

Changes to the Scheme
To consider the report of the Town Clerk regarding changes to the Quality Council Scheme.

 8.2 Quality Status Working Party

To consider the following dates in August to hold a daytime meeting of the Quality Status Working Party: Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th, Wednesday 20th or Thursday, 21st. Cllrs. Almond, Knight, I. Mackenzie, Savage and Shrimpton serve on this Working Party
  9. VIEWS ON OUR LOOS

To consider a letter and questionnaire from Maldon District Council regarding the provision of public conveniences within the District. To note that the closing date for responses is 31st August, 2008.

 10. MALDON DISTRICT COUNCIL CONSERVATION AND DESIGN AWARD SCHEME 2008

To consider nominations for the Conservation and Design Awards Scheme. Nominated projects must have been completed (i.e. used in the intended manner) between 1st September 2007 and 31st August, 2008. Categories under which the awards are made are:

Nature Conservation/Landscape
Sustainability

 14. TRANSITION INITIATIVE FOR MALDON

To consider a request from a resident of Maldon to give a short presentation at the next meeting of the Town Council on the Transition Town Initiative (further information on www.transitiontowns.org)
 15. CITIZENS' FUN DAY

Notification has been received from Maldon District Council that a Citizens' Fun Day is being held on Saturday 30th August, 2008 at the Promenade Park, Maldon and "One Place", High Street, Burnham on Crouch between 10.00 am and 3.00pm.
